The worst of it all

In one of the most catastrophic IT outages in recent history, a routine CrowdStrike Falcon update brought the world to a standstill for an entire day.

The problem started with an agent designed to monitor and protect multiple devices across the enterprise. Instead, it became the cause of what every IT systems manager fears most: a complete operational nightmare.

It was July 19, and as people prepared to leave for the holidays, chaos ensued. Airports around the world shut down, and many screens displayed the familiar Blue Screen of Death typical of Windows systems.
